A Study on the Experience by Nursing Students During the Human Potential Seminars


Abstract
The purpose of the study was to identify nursing student¢¥s experience during the Human Potential Seminars.
The phenomenological approach is intended for the assessment of the nursing student¢¥s experience.
The data were collected from August, 28. 1995 to Septemper.25, 1995 by intensive interview. The subjects of study were 21 nursing students who participate Human Potential Seminars six months ago.
These data were analyzed using Van Kaam¢¥s method.
The results are as follow
I . Acceptance regard for others were classified into two themes, interests of regard for others, improvement of interpersonal relationship.
The theme clusters were increasing empathetic regard for others, objective self-awareness about one¢¥s suffering related to compare with others, reflection on oneself, gain the sympathy a sense of intimacy, increasing interpersonal relationship.
2. Voluntarily motivation endowment about one¢¥s life were classified three themes, increasing apprehensive regard for oneself, a firm belief about self-determination, possibility of change. The theme clusters were a sense of sovereignty, increasing of self-confidence.
3. Self-affirmation were classified twp themes, awareness of one¢¥s merits, open-hearted self disclosure.
Theme clusters were make a big point of one¢¥s merits, affirmative support of others, frank self-expression, increasing of one¢¥s resistibility.
Consequently, Human Potential Seminars can be adopted as a nursing educational instruction, helping for unique and professional nurse.
